Prescription Sunglasses PDF Print E-mail

Most patients who wear prescription eyewear easily understand their
need for it; their vision is impaired without it. Sunwear, then, should be
just as important.
If you wear prescription eyeglasses, you can have special prescription
sunglasses made with your own prescription in the lens. Drs. Lee will
offer sunglasses along with regular eyeglasses. Prescription sunglasses
offer more protection than photochromic lenses that change in bright
or dark light. They are usually not more expensive than regular sun-
glasses, so there is really no reason not to have your prescription in
sunglasses as well as eyeglasses. Many frame lines offer both ophthalmic and plano sunwear pieces in
their collections. Usually the ophthalmic offerings make great sunwear
options and can be easily glazed with plano or prescription sun lenses.
The sunwear choices can also be Rxed with sun lenses. The popularity
of three-piece rimless mountings has inspired high-end sunwear design-
ers and vendors to venture into prescription sunwear.
Don't think of prescription sunwear as just a darkly tinted version of
your clear prescription glasses; think of it as eyeglasses specially
designed for your active lifestyle. With this definition, colored or multi-
colored mirror coatings, anti-reflective coating, ultraviolet protection,
polarized lenses, impact resistance, frame durability, and a host of
other options become a spectrum of unique features to add to your
prescription sunwear.
