LEANNE LEE, OD, RECOGNIZED AS YOUNG OD OF THE YEAR!
Sacramento, CA, February 15, 2010 – Leanne Lee, OD, a Stockton optometrist, was recently named Young Optometrist of the Year for 2009 by the California Optometric Association (COA) during its annual House of Delegates meeting in Ontario, California, January 29-30, 2010. Dr. Lee was honored for her significant contributions to organized optometry and her local society, the San Joaquin Optometric Society (SJOS).

In the short time since she has been in practice, Dr. Lee has demonstrated her leadership abilities through her local society and community. Dr. Lee held chair positions in membership and education at SJOS, and is currently its Web site and newsletter editor. On the state level, she has represented SJOS as a delegate for five years in a row to COA’s annual House of Delegates. In her community, Dr. Lee volunteers at the Emergency Food Bank of Stockton and is a member of all the Chambers of Commerce in her community. She also provides Vision Therapy to students of Great Valley Academy Charter School, and has conducted vision screenings at St. George Parish School in Stockton, the Stockton Diabetes Walk, Autistic Walk, and Health Plan of San Joaquin’s Family Day in the Park. Dr. Lee has also conducted educational public speaking engagements at Humpty Dumpty Pre-Kindergarten school, the Manteca Rotary, and continuing education events for the SJOS.
Dr. Lee received her Doctorate of Optometry in 2003 from SUNY College of Optometry in New York, NY. She currently owns and operates two independent optometry offices — Midtown Optometry in Stockton and Manteca Optometry in Manteca — with her husband, Dr. Derron Lee, 2008 recipient of COA’s Young OD of the Year.
